Indian Railway Station is Going to Wi-Fi Enabled


The first Wi-Fi enabled station of Indian railway is Mysore railway station. This new feature would benefit tourist as also the IT professionals whose number rising here. This new facility launched in the country under the public-private partnership model.


The facility is being powered by Tomizone, a New Zealand-based company that operates a global service platform to provide wireless broadband service to consumers.

This new Wi-Fi facility, that is another feather in the development cap of Mysore is going to function on a 6 month trial basis and will fetch no revenues for Mysore Railway's and is on a six-month trial basis. This will fetch no revenues for the Mysore Railway zone as there has been no investment from the side of Railway’s. The Railway's will thereafter work out a Revenue Model. This facility would then be targeted at other Karnataka Stations based on the success of the Mysore project.
Before Commonwealth games, Delhi Government has decided to make all the metro stations Wi-Fi enabled. Delhi government has identified bidders including internet and telecom players such as MTNL, Net4 India, Spectranet, Tulip IT Services and Microsense for these projects
