New Rules of Tatkal Ticket Booking

New Rules of Tatkal Ticket Booking

Under the new rule, advance reservation period of Tatkal tickets has been reduced from two days to one day (24 hours).

The advance Reservation Period of Tatkal Scheme is reduced from two days to one day excluding the day of journey from the originating station from Monday.

For example, if a train is to depart from the originating station on 2nd day of the month then the Tatkal quota for this particular train will open at 08.00hrs of the 1st day of the month.
No authorised agents, including agents of IRCTC and others, will be allowed to book Tatkal tickets from 10 AM to 12 AM from counters as well as from Internet.

While some zones will be operating separate counters for Tatkal tickets, others will be issuing tickets from the same counters but will provide only Tatkal tickets through these counters between 10 AM and 10.30 AM.

The booking of Tatkal tickets under the revamped scheme will begin on July 10 and zonal railways have been instructed to make adequate arrangement at reservation counters accordingly, said a senior Railway Ministry official.

Under the new arrangement, the booking of Tatkal tickets will start at 10 AM on the previous day of journey from the train's originating station instead of 8 AM at present.

Measures such as installation of CCTVs in major booking centres, barring booking clerks to carry mobile phones inside counters, display of helpline numbers for complaints, raids by the vigilance squads to prevent misuse of Tatkal facility have been taken, he said.

IRCTC’s deposit scheme for faster e-ticket booking

IRCTC’s deposit scheme for faster e-ticket booking

New Delhi: Seeking to make it easier to book e-tickets, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has decided to launch a scheme allowing passengers to reserve seats against advance money kept with the corporation.

“We have decided to launch Rolling Deposit Scheme (RDS), a hassle-free e-ticket booking scheme in which the user will be able to book e-tickets against advance money kept with us,” said a senior IRCTC official involved with the scheme.

Currently there are about 4.5 lakh train tickets booked daily through IRCTC website.

Under the Rolling Deposit Scheme, a user can deposit money in advance with IRCTC and use it as a payment option amongst the other payment options available on IRCTC website for paying money at the time of booking tickets.

“It will reduce the payment gateway time for the user as money will be deducted from the IRCTC and not from any bank as is the current practice, he said adding “there are about 10% failure in e-ticket booking due to the banking server problem.”

Besides IRCTC will also not levy the payment gateway charge for booking e-ticket through RDS.

He said one can join the RDS with a minimum amount of Rs 1500 also.
